I never indented to make this a blog where I do product reviews but to not talk about this product is absolutely sinful. This stuff is basically magic in a pot, today I'm talking about the Ben Nye Luxury Powder.
Small disclaimer: this post is NOT sponsored (I wish it was because that would indicate my blog is relatively successful and reaching the masses, plus, ya'know I would be getting paid too which would be good right now...lol).
H O L Y C R A P !
For years and years I have stayed true to MAC face powders, not because I love them, because I really, really don't, but because I know what colour to ask for and it something that is easily accessible, sorry for the shade MAC, I just like your brushes and the colour range on your lipstick, though I also hate the formula for your lipsticks (so drying) so I don't buy them any more, double shade, whoopsie!
I love make up with a huge passion but I just hate how it looks on my skin, I hate that we cant all have that filtered to f*ck instagram beauty guru look and the thing I hate the most is that if you do achieve that look while messing around with all your products you are judged for it massively... *flashback to a time when I was meeting a friend I hadn't seen for ages for a drink, she always looked amazing so I made more of an effort than usual, though I didn't look overdone, just a vest and blazer some jeans and heels with a nice top handle bag and a simple but flawless fresh face of makeup then a man (strong use of the word man for this type of a-hole) shouted at me in the street 'who do you think you are a celebrity or something, you look ridiculous' then laughed and just shat all over my love for make up for a little while and made me feel like I was ridiculous for even thinking to leave my house looking nice for a change and THAT'S when some of the anxiety issues started btw*.
Now, I have a nose full of pores (wish I knew you couldn't reverse the damage when I was still doing the damage) I have a slight bit of rosacea on my cheeks, my skin almost always has a spot somewhere and I have a very mottled complexion (hate it). What this means is when I do get a good face of make-up going I also get freaked out because I actually look normal and my skin is all one colour... Resulting in me washing it all off and hiding in the hood of my coat behind my reading glasses, ahh anxiety.
That was until I purchased this powder, I have used it 5 times, once on a half day old face of make-up when testing my colour (cameo btw), once on my bare skin and 3 times with a fresh face of make-up. This powder is another level of amazing and I am actually flabbergasted at how much it lives up to the hype.
Its light/medium coverage in my opinion but because its such a fine powder it blends incredibly so its really build-able. My makeup actually lasted all day (for once), I used a primer & setting spray also but this powder didn't move, didn't collect in my pores or fine lines and I looked natural but my skin looked flawless and matte for the whole day, no touch ups required and even on the occasions I haven't used a setting spray it has still lasted impeccably especially using the 'baking' technique.
I am really impressed with this purchase, firstly this is going to last for absolutely AGES, no joke there is so much product in this tiny, tiny container, secondly it was really quite affordable, I paid £10.95 for this which I think is a great deal when you look at the fact it's a higher end product and finally, I am honestly just so relieved as a blogger (I haven't earned that title yet actually) but I am so relieved to have parted with my money on a product that actually lives up to its hype, I have spent so much money on so many products that have been promoted as holy grails in the past, its so nice to finally come across an actual holy grail product, now if someone can help with holy grail primers, foundations, concealers and lip colours that also live up to their hype that would be great (lol)...
I do love a good old selfie, so I have taken the liberty to attach some pictures below of the product on my face on the 2 most recent occasions I have used it. I have to admit, they're not the best pictures, they were taken on a phone, but this has convinced me to do a before and after so I can actually show you how amazing this product is! Keep an eye out for my next post, as always big massive love to the people to do take the time to read my thoughts and don't forget to subscribe to BASIC!
